Grimehouse – The Pit

South Africa’s Highest Ranking Dubstep l Drumstep Artist – DJ Mag

Grimehouse and Bad Weather partnered up to create a fully interactive visual show. The initial concept was focused around Grimehouse being able to control the lighting, visual and special effects while performing live.

The challenges faced within this brief was that every element had to be completely flexible and responsive as being a DJ we did not want to limit his DJ sets direction in any way shape or form.

We spent months developing and perfecting a motion control system that would place virtual trigger points spatially around him, this would trigger lighting and video content by using his body motion. This technology was the first of its kind to be used within a live touring environment, and we were very proud to see this concept become a reality.

The name THE PIT was derived from the set resembling Grimehouse‘s gremlin character devouring the audience, using our pixel LED strip technology on an engulfing truss design.

It was a greatly rewarding experience to be able to see a production of this creative measure come to life.
