December, 2019
To mark the beginning of the festive season in Cape Town, Moët & Chandon commission a 10 metre tall golden tree, built out of champagne bottles and lined with rings of LED strip.
Huski Productions chose Bad Weather to execute the build for 2019. Bad Weather managed all technical aspects of the tree. The manufacturing of the steel structure; the procurement, programming and manufacturing of all the LED pixel strip; and the installation of the tree and over 2000 Moët bottles, outside the Zeitz Mocca Contemporary Art Museum at the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront.
The tree contains over 345m of LED pixel strip, 2148 Moët champagne bottles and steel weighing over 2 tons.
It is preprogrammed to switch on every night at 19:30 and turn off again in the early hours of the morning, with a special sequence playing at 20:30 following a popular opera song.
